Today we headed to Masada, the last stronghold of the Jews against the Romans. Of the 12 of us who went, 8 decided to hike up the mountain using the “Snake Path.” Not that they could have sent a “poop-out” bus to retrieve any who couldn’t finish the uphill climb, but with perseverance, we all made it! We then spent a couple of hours touring the site, having lunch, and doing a little shopping.
Returning to the hotel, we had a free afternoon to have spa treatments (something the Dead Sea is famous for), go into the Dead Sea, or spend time at the pools (sulfur or fresh water). Dinner was another wonderful buffet, after which we adjourned for the night. Tomorrow – EIN GEDI AND JERUSALEM!
