April has arrived in a wonderful and exciting way. The children were able to experience the Matzah Factory on April 1st. For some children this was the very first time they were able to watch how matzah is made from start to finish as well as making their own matzah. It was endearing when the children were so proud of their creation only to taste it and realize it wasn't as good as they thought it was going to be - such funny scrunched up faces. The children also made their own ceramic seder plates. A big thanks to Sammi Jass for coming and doing the plates with the children! We, the staff, placed importance on teaching the foods and in what order they go to better understand the Passover story. When the children tasted the bitter herbs, boy did they fully understand how it was bitter bad to be a slave! I think the children definitely grasped the Exodus story a little better by experiencing the food.
Before I go too much longer into this article I want to thank Alex Moses and his family for donating a piece of playground equipment shaped like an airplane. The children have been thoroughly enjoying it! There is nothing like watching our sweet children completely immersed in play pretending to fly into space and of course to Disneyland. So much to speak about!
We had our (or will be having, depending on when you receive your Scroll) our second annual ECLC Birthday Party. We have changed the name to the Shayna Rosenberg Read-To-Your- Child Day! We are extending an open invitation to all our seniors here at TBT to come and read to the children on Friday, April 18th from 10:00-11:30 a.m., when a light lunch will be served. (please RSVP to the ECLC office – 714-871-9555). The children will perform a medley of different songs, and the Kindergarteners will perform in their bell choir. Donations to the Shayna Rosenberg Library will be graciously accepted.
Shalom,
