There are times when a holiday goes well and then there are times when you can't wait for it to be over and you are hoping if only you could rewind and start again. Well this year is one of those times when I feel I am riding the wave waiting to fall off and crash into the ocean of all the things I have to get done. Fortunately I haven't crashed yet.
At ECLC we are riding the wave fairly well. All the children enjoyed singing and performing in front of many groups this last month and the teachers were right on the mark when it came to getting the children prepared for those performances as well as teaching the children what Chanukah is all about.
For the performances the two-year olds were the cutest drediels as they spun around until they got dizzy and fell down in a giggling heap.
The three-year olds featured half of their class as latkes sizzling in a pan. The bakers were the other half. They really tried to sizzle those latkes but they kept hopping out of the frying pan and running all around!
The Pre-K class was the brave and bold Maccabees with their Star of David shields marching against the mean King Antiochus. Just to let you in on a little secret - the girls in the Pre-K class are truly the strongest little girls I have seen in a long time. You would have to think twice before you would go up against them.
Finally the Kindergarteners were the Chanukiyah singing beautifully “How Many Candles Do We Light?” Then they proceeding to count in Hebrew as they showed how well they have learned their Hebrew letters and numbers.
I want to give a special thanks to Rabbi as he sang and led the children in joyous song in each program. There are a lot of little boys who want to grow up and play the guitar and even a few who desire to be a Rabbi.I think this a true reflection of how Ken Milhander interacts so well with the children.
Speaking of interacting with the children, we are having a great turnout for our Tot Shabbats each third Friday of the month. The last one on the eighteenth of December was also the last night of Chanukah Everyone had so much fun and it was a great time for all the parents to get to know each other a little better. I highly reccommend and invite any family with children six and under to come out and join us. Singing, eating, and family fun … you really can't go wrong for an entertaining night with your chldren. You do not have to be a member or student in ECLC to be part of this monthly activity. All are warmly welcome!
I always look forward to the New Year. There is a lot going on at ECLC as well as TBT. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds!
