If you didn’t know it from our Yom Kipur services, the “gates are now closed.” Yes, the Decision Gates to the building color selection have now closed. The stone coordinates with the two stucco colors and the Sanctuary/Social Hall/ECLC building matches the new Asa Center. Not only that, but the entire sub-committee loves the choices. We hope you will too.
We have started to face the upper floor columns with the “Jerusalem” stone and it is obvious that the selection was perfect. The hand cut limestone will be a beautiful enhancement to both the Asa Center as well as the Sanctuary/Social Hall/ECLC buildings. Unfortunately, we have run into a scheduling snag caused by this same material. Although the stone was delivered over 6 months ago and the paperwork indicated that it was shipped complete, two pallets of corner pieces never made it to our shores. Since everything on a construction project must be completed in sequence, we now must anticipate a delay in the completion of the building’s exterior. As of this writing we have not explored all the actions we can take to mitigate and minimize the delay. When we complete that analysis we will let you know what events on our calendar, if any, will be affected. So be prepared to see that ugly scaffolding a while longer.
The good news is that they will start the inside painting and finishing shortly. Then it’s the drop ceilings and flooring. The flooring materials (tile, vinyl and carpet) are already on site.
We are still going ahead with the date of October 24 for our “Dedication Celebration.” Over 800 invitation postcards have been mailed so it would have been difficult to change dates at this point. Please RSVP and let us know you will be coming. The Holocaust Memorial will be dedicated sometime next year.
The “walk-through” weekend event scheduled for September 24-26 (personal tours) to honor and thank major supporters of the project took place as planned. Stan Pesner had Eric Van Raalte’s AEPi members calling to confirm plans to attend and receive their special awards.
There is no guarantee as to when the City of Fullerton will give us final permits for occupancy. We probably won’t be moving in until late November or December. Stay tuned …
